Woodend Golf Club

The Woodend Golf Course is a charming, scenic rural layout located in the heart of the Macedon Ranges, some 75km north of Melbourne.
The course is situated in a beautiful undulating parkland setting and boasts glorious 360 degree panoramic views of the Macedon Ranges & surrounding countryside. Our early members had the foresight to plant an extensive selection of flora which over many years has matured into a magnificent blend of large European exotics species such as Spruce, Cypress and Oak along with many native Australian examples like Flowering & Scented Gums, Wattles and even the endangered Black Gum which is native to the Woodend area.
Bird life is also abundant with Kookaburras, Galahs, Cockatoos and even examples of the majestic Wedge Tail Eagle often seen above. These are joined by Kangaroos, Koalas and you might even see the reclusive Black Wallaby around the back of the course if you’re lucky.
Our relaxed and inclusive environment offers people the opportunity to unwind and get away from the stresses of modern life.
One of our aims is to promote the game of golf to the wider community as such, we welcome players of any standard to come and enjoy our course whenever they can.
The men’s course is par 67 and measures 4770 meters and the ladies is par 68 coming in at 4571 meters. Whilst not long by modern standards, the course is still quite a challenge being defined by its tight tree lined fairways and slick devilishly sloping greens. We boast 18 grass greens and our lush manicured fairways are fully watered which ensures excellent playability all year round.

History

Woodend Golf Club has a long history with the towns first recorded golfers (circa 1902 ) using land near today’s Quarry Road and calling themselves the St. Andrews Golf Club.
Memberships were called for not long after and a course was built starting near today’s football oval. The club was registered in 1908, making 2008 the clubs centenary year. The current layout was completed in the late 1960’s with several enhancements completed since.
One of our aims is to promote the game of golf to the wider community. In doing so we encourage new members and guests to join and play. Woodend Golf Club has produced many great golfers in its history and enjoyed much success in district pennant and individual events.
