Rules and Etiquette of Golf

Every member is requested to obtain and read a booklet on the rules and etiquette of golf. Please ask a member of the committee to supply one if required.
Remember, no one is a rules expert. All players should carry a rules book – it is easy to use.

Local rules

From time to time, the match committee will make local rules after considering local conditions. These local rules will be posted on the clubhouse notice board. Please check before you play.

Wet Weather Policy

Golf is, by definition, a game for all weather and played in all weather.

The wet weather policy at Woodend Golf Club is:

1.   Once a player tees off, in rain or otherwise, there will be NO CASH OR CREDIT CARD REFUNDS WHATSOEVER.

2.   Depending on the circumstances a credit for another game may be given.

3.   Should the Starter deem it necessary to close the course during play and play is not resumed, then a credit for another game will be given.

Slow play

Slow play must be avoided at all times. Players should play without delay and keep a good pace. A good pace is where you can always see the group in front whilst not holding up the group behind.

Complaints

No member has the right to reprimand or make any complaint to an employee or any member of the club. Any such complaint must be made in writing and be lodged with the Woodend Golf Club Committee.

Score Cards

Before returning a competition scorecard you need to ensure the correct Golflink & Daily handicaps are recorded on the card.

Please ensure that you have also signed the completed scorecard. The match committee is required to disqualify anyone who does not comply with this process according to the rules of golf.

Practice

In practice rounds a limit of two (2) balls can be played towards any one hole. The first 50 meters on the fence side of the third fairway (as marked) are available to members as the practice area. The practice putting green area is in front of the clubhouse. Please do not practice on any area not designated.

Dress Code

The minimum dress requirement on course and in the clubhouse is neat, tidy, clean casual dress.

Clubhouse and bar rules

The Woodend Golf Club observes all laws abiding to the responsible serving of alcohol. Members should be aware of the rules. Most importantly, members should not ask or expect bar staff to break these rules.
